This Friday night, skip the usual club scene and step into something warmer, richer, and far more memorable. The Shenzhen Celts are bringing a classic slice of Ireland to the city with a traditional Seanchoiche Night, an evening filled with storytelling, live music, laughter, and that legendary Irish craic (the unbeatable mix of fun, banter, and good vibes).

When: Friday, April 24th, starting at 7:00 PM

Where: The Happy Monk Uniway, 深圳市前海深港合作区南山街道听海大道5059号前海壹方汇

What is a Seanchoiche Night?

In Ireland, a seanchaí (pronounced “shan-a-key”) was a wandering storyteller, a keeper of ancient folklore, heroic legends, and local tales passed down through generations by the fireside. These gifted narrators traveled from village to village, weaving magic with nothing but their voice and imagination.

This Shenzhen edition captures that same timeless spirit in a cozy, welcoming setting. Picture dim lights, the warm hum of conversation, and the rich sound of traditional Irish music drifting through the air. The night will feature:

  • Live storytelling (funny, moving, wild, or wonderfully random, everything is welcome)
  • Open mic performances
  • Plenty of pints of Guinness to keep the energy flowing

Everyone’s Welcome, Irish, Irish-at-Heart, or Just Curious

You don’t need Irish blood to join the fun. Whether you’re a longtime Celt, someone who simply loves a great story, or just looking for a lively night with Shenzhen’s vibrant international crowd, this event is for you.

It’s an open stage night, so if you’ve got a story to tell, a poem to share, a song to sing, or even an instrument to play, jump in! The crowd is warm, supportive, and judgment-free. Performing is completely optional. Many will come just for the atmosphere, the music, and the chance to enjoy a proper pint while soaking up the craic.

By the end of the night, you might feel like you’ve slipped through a portal and landed in a lively Dublin pub, without ever leaving Shenzhen.

Who Are the Shenzhen Celts?

Behind this night of stories and music is the Shenzhen Celts, the city’s first and only Gaelic Football team. Founded in 2004, the Celts have built a thriving international community of over 100 members.

Gaelic Football is one of Ireland’s most beloved traditional sports, a thrilling, fast-paced blend of soccer, rugby, and basketball that’s as physical as it is exciting. The team welcomes players of all levels and backgrounds, offering both men’s and women’s squads, along with regular training, fitness, and plenty of social events.
