AmCham South China Ushers in New Era with Launch of Shenzhen Qianhai Service & Meeting Center

The American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) marked a significant milestone on September 4, 2024. The organization officially launched its Shenzhen Qianhai Service & Meeting Center in Shenzhen, China.

The inauguration was a grand event, graced by nearly 200 dignitaries encompassing government officials, business leaders, and media personnel. The grandeur was further amplified by the presence of over 10 foreign consulates, predominantly led by their respective consuls general. Ms. Pauline Kao, Consul General of the US Consulate General in Guangzhou, was the star guest of the welcome reception.

AmCham South China, the independent, non-partisan, and non-profit business organization, accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. has been facilitating bilateral trade between the United States and the People’s Republic of China since 1995.

It has been instrumental in providing its over 2,300 members insights into the Chinese market, and advocating for their needs and interests to the Chinese government. The latest addition, the Shenzhen Qianhai Service & Meeting Center is envisaged to enhance the convenience and efficiency of business services and interactions for American and multinational companies operating in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). This center marks a strategic step in fostering collaboration within the business community in South China.

Dr. Harley Seyedin, Chairman and President of AmCham South China, and 2017 Oslo Business for Peace Award winner, accentuated China’s vast market potential and investment opportunities as the world’s second-largest economy. He pinpointed Qianhai as an essential window and an experimental field for China’s Reform and Opening-up policy, contributing to the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.

He said, “Shenzhen Qianhai is strategically located and benefits from favorable policies that have attracted numerous international enterprises. We hope that through the service & meeting center, we can help our members seize the opportunities presented by the GBA and China’s economic development, achieving mutually beneficial growth.”
