Conditions

1. Working in a Shenzhen company;
2. Have a doctoral degree.

Materials

1. Application form in triplicate;
2. Three two-inch color photos in blue background (photo size: 48×33mm) and Foreigner visa digital photo receipt of Guangdong province;
3. Passport;
4. The non-criminal record issued by the relevant department of the country to which you belong, certified by the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad. The non-criminal record certificate should be issued within six months before the application date;
5. Physical examination certificate issued within six months by Shenzhen Kouan Hospital;
6. Resume (18 years old to the present, consecutive years and months are required);
7. Doctoral Degree certificate and the Authentication Certificate. (If the diploma certificate was issued by an overseas university, then diploma authentication issued by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) must also be provided);
8. The original employment certificate issued by the current company;
9. Work permit card;
10. Individual Income Tax certificate; 
11. The registration certificate of the employer (such as business license, organization code certificate, etc.) and the annual inspection certificate; The foreign-invested enterprise approval certificate and joint annual inspection certificate shall also be submitted  if the employer is a foreign-invested enterprise;
12. Information form of the immediate family members;
13. Information Collection Form.
14. Other supporting materials.

Spouse and minor children can apply together.

Three copies are required in addition to the originals.

Government Charges

1. Application fee: RMB1,500; (Will not be refunded even if it is not approved).
2. Foreigner Permanent Residence Card fee: RMB300.

Processing Time

About 6-12 months after all documents are submitted. 

Validity

Ten years for adults and five years for minors.

Q&A

1. Can I apply if my docotral degree is issued from a Chinese university?
Yes.

2. Any requirement for major?
No.

3. Can I apply if I never paid individual income tax?
Depends on details. 
(1) Can apply if your country have tax treaty with China and you are exempt of paying tax. E.g.: some teachers in schools or foreign experts delegated by the United Nations organization;
(2) Hard to apply if only because your salary is lower. 

4. Do my wife and minor children need to apply for non-criminal records and Chinese embassy authentication?
Spouse: yes. Minor children: No need.

5. Can I apply if my labor contact terminates soon?
Better not. During application, your work permit should be valid.

6. Do I need to have valid work permit?
Yes，must have valid work permit and work type residence permit.

7. Do I need to do diploma authentication if my degree is from a Chinese university?
No need in Shenzhen.(Need in Shanghai).

8. Do I need to apply for home country non-criminal records if I have been in China for ten years?
Yes, home country one is a must.

9. How long I need to stay in China after getting Green Card?
3 months per year.
