The Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats has partnered with two experienced mental health professionals to offer free psychological counseling to expatriate residents who face language barriers.
This welcoming initiative provides accessible, preliminary psychological support and guidance in a comfortable, confidential setting.
Every Tuesday: Courtney Gumson
Courtney Gumson is a Licensed Master Social Worker accredited by the Maryland Department of Health in the United States. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and brings over 16 years of rich experience in mental health and education across international settings.
With warmth and expertise, Courtney supports adults and families navigating stress, anxiety, ADHD, and executive functioning challenges.

Every Thursday: Wanyi Zheng
Wanyi Zheng is a bilingual counselor with a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Edinburgh. She is a registered counselor with the Scottish Mental Health Association and a member of the Association of Chinese Psychological and Support Professionals International (ACHPPI).
Wanyi brings a vibrant, eclectic approach to her practice, blending humanistic therapy with interpersonal, psychodynamic, play therapy, and art therapy techniques. Her warm and culturally sensitive style makes her especially effective in supporting clients from diverse backgrounds.

This free service is designed to help expats take the first step toward better mental wellbeing in a language they feel comfortable with.
