Ms. Qi had spent more than a decade with a Swiss company, traveling endlessly across Europe and the United States. She dined in hidden corners and bustling avenues. She tasted the kind of authentic, soulful food that never makes it into guidebooks, the burgers people crave at midnight, the steaks that feel like a hug, the beers poured among laughter and jazz. And somewhere between a Chicago deep-dish and a Texas smokehouse, she fell in love with American casual dining.

So, she brought it home.

The first Gecko Pizza & Pub opened in Chang'an, Dongguan. No fanfare. No formula. Just a fierce belief that great food and a warm room could become a second home. And with that, Gecko's brand journey began, a never-ending exploration of flavor, connection, and the messy, beautiful passion of life.

 

Fast forward nearly two decades. Gecko has never wavered from its three simple vows: quality ingredients, refined craftsmanship, and unforgettable experiences. The menu grew into a love letter to good times, wood-fired pizzas, towering burgers, fresh salads, charcoal-grilled steaks, Mexican-inspired zing, silky pasta, and a bar poured with imported drafts and creative cocktails. In 2020, Gecko planted its flag at Sea World, Shenzhen, and something electric happened. The city showed up. Families. Expats. First dates. Late-night regulars. They came for the food, stayed for the warmth, and fell in love with the live music that drifted through the room like a second heartbeat. Quickly, Gecko became more than a pub. It became a gathering place, a haven for Western cuisine lovers and music souls alike.

Ms. Qi's son Stephen has stepped into the light, carrying his mother's dream on his shoulders and fresh fire in his heart. He honors every original promise, the quality, the craft, the soul, while breathing new energy into what comes next. New ideas. New beats. New reasons to gather.
