In a striking display of cross border collaboration, Chinese anti-narcotics forces have intercepted a massive 430 kilograms of cocaine at Yantian Port in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, thanks to crucial intelligence shared by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Announced by China’s Ministry of Public Security, this bold bust on November 26 highlights the growing momentum in bilateral efforts to crush transnational drug trafficking.

The illicit cargo was cleverly concealed within a suspicious international shipping container, and the case remains under intense investigation.

This triumph builds on high level agreements forged by leaders from both nations during their October 30 meeting in Busan, South Korea. Anti-drug teams have ramped up joint probes into multiple cases, formed dedicated task forces, and boosted real time intelligence sharing delivering impressive results in the fight against global narcotics threats.

Sino US anti-drug ties have surged forward in recent years. A key milestone came with the launch of a bilateral counter narcotics working group in January 2024, tied to the 10th China-US drug intelligence exchange.

Earlier in February 2025, DEA tips enabled Chinese forces and the China Coast Guard to apprehend seven suspects and confiscate nearly 5 tons of methamphetamine in a high seas operation near Huangyan Island in the South China Sea, a record-breaking haul that showcased the power of international teamwork.
