Nestled within the residential district in Futian, Shenzhen, stands the latest addition to the United Family Hospitals’ network in China.
Its 26 storey building overlooking Shenzhen Bay houses state of the art inpatient and outpatient services in Family Medicine, OB-GYN, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery and Orthopaedics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dermatology, Oncology, ENT, Psychiatry and Dentistry. In addition, located on the ground floor in the northeast corner of the building is a modern Emergency Department with a separate Fever Clinic. There is direct access from the north entrance and parking onsite right outside the Emergency Department.
The ED is staffed by a team of highly experienced Emergency Physicians and Nurses who are able to assess and institute the initial management of the full range of urgent and emergency illnesses and injuries, ranging from full blown cardiac arrest and major trauma to minor wounds and sprains. No matter what your problem is, they will be able to get the ball rolling. All of the Emergency Physicians are certified to provide Advanced Life Support and regular drills are held to ensure skills are maintained. Many of the Nursing Staff have extensive overseas experience and have an excellent level of English language skills.
The ED has 24/7 security for the safety of its patients and it provides a calm, spacious and airy environment throughout, acknowledging that any visit to an ED can be a time of great anxiety. The registration desk is directly in front as you enter the main doors and after registration there is a triage cubicle to the right if required, where a Nurse will make an initial assessment and ensure you are seen according to priority.
Should you have a critical condition, there is a fully equipped resuscitation room immediately to the left of the main doors. It has a full function defibrillator, ventilator in case you need support with breathing, continuous monitoring of vital signs and stock to manage the common serious presentations so that you can be stabilised in one place without the need for any risky transfers elsewhere.
There are 8 other cubicles set around a central nurses’ station which balances your privacy and security with the ability of the Nurses to keep a close eye on you in case there is any change in your status. Two of these cubicles are specifically designed for children with child-oriented decor and one for patients with mental health conditions. All of the cubicles are large enough to allow for all the care and treatment to be provided without having to move from one place to another. In fact, two of the cubicles are of such a size as to be able to accommodate the team required to manage any obstetric emergencies.
As a leading provider of private healthcare, the ED follows internationally accepted protocols and standards. Almost everyone completes their episode of care well within the 4 hour standard, even if you need further investigation with blood tests or scans. The ED will help you with your issue in a courteous, professional and efficient manner. If there is then a need for more specialised review, Shenzhen United Family Hospital has all of the main specialists on hand to continue your care. If you need surgery, operating theatres are available at all times. For those with health insurance, direct billing of the insurance company is possible so that you do not need to think about money at this time. Charges are, again, commensurate with international codes. All documentation is immediately available to you as evidence of your visit.
