Since settling in Shenzhen in 2010, Rubén has leveraged his company, Exotic Winds, to import premium Spanish wines and ingredients, ensuring El Mesón delivers unparalleled authenticity. Launched in March 2025 through a partnership with Lavo, the restaurant transforms traditional Spanish home cooking into a vibrant dining experience, offering complimentary tapas to entice Shenzhen’s food enthusiasts.

The heart of El Mesón lies in its tapas-driven menu, rooted in Spain’s social dining culture, featuring shareable dishes like Garlic & Chili Shrimps, Wine-Cooked Chorizos, and Honey Crispy Eggplant Chips. Main courses such as Seafood Paella, Fresh Prawns & Mushrooms in Creamy Blue Cheese Sauce, and Carmen’s Cow Stomach Stew showcase Rubén’s mother’s recipes, perfected over seven months.
