The Class of 2026 at LEH International School Foshan has received a remarkable collection of university offers from leading institutions around the world. Among this year’s cohort, two students, Mei and Cynthia, stand out for their dedication, intellectual curiosity, and personal growth. Their journeys reflect the school’s commitment to nurturing students who are not only academically ambitious but also deeply engaged with their passions.

Mei’s Path: Curiosity Across Disciplines

Mei joined LEH Foshan in September 2021 as a founding student, arriving from Spain. Known for her warmth and strong work ethic, she chose a challenging combination of A Level subjects, Mathematics, further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English Literature, to pursue her goal of studying engineering. While the STEM subjects gave her a solid technical foundation, English Literature offered a creative balance that enriched her academic experience.

From her first days on campus, Mei was drawn to the school’s facilities and its supportive community. The relationships she built with teachers and peers became an important part of her time at the school.

Beyond the classroom, Mei took part in sports, academic clubs, and a wide range of extracurricular activities. These experiences helped her develop strong time-management skills and explore new interests, reminding her that learning extends far beyond textbooks and exams.

Reflecting on her journey, Mei noted that her time at LEH Foshan helped her grow not just academically, but personally. She highlighted qualities such as curiosity, communication, and collaboration as key takeaways that she believes will serve her well in the future.

Among her university offers, Mei was particularly drawn to Newcastle University, where she received a place in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, a highly specialized programme offered by only a handful of universities worldwide. The offer aligned closely with her interests and opened the door to a field she is genuinely excited to explore.

Cynthia’s Path: From Curiosity to Academic Passion

Cynthia, another standout graduate from the Class of 2026, is described by those who know her as thoughtful, reflective, and eager to support others. Her interest in understanding human behaviour guided her academic choices and led to offers from three UK universities, including the University of Edinburgh, all for psychology.

She studied Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry at A Level, subjects that strengthened her analytical and reasoning skills, which she found complemented her interest in psychology well. What began as curiosity gradually developed into a focused academic pursuit.

A turning point in Cynthia’s journey came during her Independent Project Qualification (IPQ), which focused on social psychology. She carried out extensive research, collected data, and wrote her paper independently. The process sharpened her skills in teamwork, information gathering, and critical thinking.

Cynthia shared that while her A Level studies helped build logical thinking and data analysis skills, it was the IPQ that truly deepened her passion for psychology. She hopes to continue exploring the field with the same enthusiasm that took root during her time at LEH Foshan.
