It was an honor and a privilege to have been invited to attend the graduation of the first graduating class of Shen Wai International School (SWIS). The faculty, guests, and students put together a unique ceremony that attendees will never forget and will likely be marked forever in the city’s history.

The SWIS Seconary Chamber Orchestra; including three violins, two flutes, and two cellos, serenaded the graduates with a procession march as they made their way to the beautifully decorated stage; whose flowers filled the auditorium with a delighteful fragrance of Spring.

Dr. Tucker Barrows presided over the Ceremony as Master of Ceremonies; introducing the various speakers and invited guests; including Mr. Guan Su of the Shenzhen Education Bureau; Daniel Legault the SWIS Deputy Director (Academics) and Secondary Principal; Mr. Michael Yang, Founder and Chairman of the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Returnees Association; and Ms Ally Wu, SWIS Director; who gave a touching speech that didn’t leave a dry eye in the room.

The remarks were broken up by a heartful reflection by graduating student Mandy Chen, a beautiful Musical Interlude by the SWIS Secondary Choir, and a video message by Mr. Gong, Board Director of SWIS.

Before the diplomas were presented, a video was shown, highlighting the years the students had spent together; as well as personal messages from various faculty members.

After the ceremony, the students, their family, friends, and faculty, gathered in the SWIS Theater Foyer for the reception and plenty of photo taking.

Congratulations to the SWIS Class of 2019!
