Free and Ticketed Light Shows in Shenzhen this Season

AS autumn brings cooler evenings, immerse yourself in the spellbinding beauty of light shows around the city. They include free shows that run every night, as well as ticketed shows with specific ending dates. After a bustling day of work, these enchanting displays provide the perfect respite.

Free light shows

Futian

The dynamic light shows in central Futian are played regularly on the façades of the high-rise buildings every Friday and Saturday as well as one day before and on some Chinese holidays. The shows start at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on these days from November to March, and at 7:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from April to October. Each show lasts 15 minutes.

Visitors hoping to watch the light shows at Civic Center Square are required to make reservations via the “福田中心区夜景灯光预约导引服务” WeChat miniprogram. You may also watch them without reservations from other locations nearby such as Lianhua Hill.

Metro: Line 2 or 4 to Civic Center (市民中心站), or Line 3 or 4 to Children’s Palace Station (少年宫站)

Longhua

Dream-like light shows are projected onto the façades of old towers and houses in Guanlan Old Market and Guanlan Printmaking Base every night, immersing visitors in a dazzling world blending the old and the new.

Venue 1: Guanlan Old Market, Longhua District (观澜古墟)

Time: 8-9 p.m.

Metro: Line 4 to Guanlan Station (观澜站), Exit B

Bao’an

If you live in west Shenzhen, you can simply enjoy light shows projected onto the façades of high-rise buildings in central Bao’an every Friday and Saturday at 7:30-10 p.m. (May-August) and 7-10 p.m. (September-April), as well as on holiday nights.

Venue: Around Coastal Square, Bao’an District (宝安区海滨广场周边)

Ticketed light shows

Longgang

Glittering light installations in the shapes of heavenly bodies, animals, and flowers await your exploration. Additionally, enjoy live music performances and visit bustling food markets to enhance your experience.

Dates: Though Oct. 6

Hours: 6-11 p.m.

Tickets: 28 yuan (children), 38 yuan (adults)

Venue: Shenzhen International Low-carbon City, Longgang District (深圳国际低碳城会展中心)

Longhua

At the light show in Mission Hills Ecological Sports Park, a corridor adorned with futuristic illuminations evokes the sense of a space tunnel; delicate jellyfish-like lights hanging from the trees create an ethereal atmosphere, reminiscent of dreamlands; another multitude of lights on trees conjure a scenario of misty forests. Adding to the ambiance, the park also hosts live gigs and mesmerizing Dunhuang-inspired dance performances.

Dates: Through Oct. 6

Hours: 5-10 p.m.

Tickets: 39.9 yuan

Guangming

The light show in Guangming Farm showcases colossal lights that resemble mythical beasts from “The Classic of Mountains and Seas,” evoking a mysterious and fantastical fairyland. The lights inspired by ancient Chinese poems flicker like sparks, creating a romantic ambiance. Furthermore, performers dressed as characters from “Journey to the West” will warmly greet children, while bonfires provide a sanctuary for youngsters to escape the demands of the day.

Dates: Until Sept. 24

Hours: 5:30-10 p.m.

Tickets: 30 yuan (children), 39.9 yuan (adults)
