Piano recital

Among critics and connoisseurs of the piano world, Michael Korstick has long earned a reputation as one of Germany’s leading pianists. Presto Music acclaims him as an ideal Liszt interpreter and this Saturday in Shenzhen he will play the complete “Years of Pilgrimage” by Liszt.

Musical ‘Luduan’

The Chinese-language children’s musical “Luduan,” produced by the Palace Museum in Beijing, will be staged this weekend. This spectacular show features an auspicious Chinese legendary animal known as the luduan.

Chinese dancer Hu Shenyuan and British dancer Aakash Odedra will join hands to present “Samsara,” a duet dance this weekend. On Saturday, the Guangdong National Orchestra will play an evening of Chinese folk music.

‘Titanic: The Musical’

“Titanic: The Musical,” a Tony Award-winning production, centers on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the Titanic passengers who boarded with their stories and ambitions, unaware of the tragic fate awaiting them.

Ballet, piano recital

Russian ballet “Anna Karenina,” choreographed by Boris Eifman, is a true burst of inner psychological energy. To be staged this week, it is acclaimed to be amazingly precise in delivering emotional impact upon viewers.

And on Friday, Yale University piano professor Robert Blocker will play pieces by Scarlatti, Schubert, Beethoven and Ginastera.

Chorus, symphony, guitar, piano

The China National Chorus will sing an evening of songs from classical Western operas and Chinese folk pieces Thursday. On Friday, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) will present Gershwin’s “Cuba Overture,” Walton’s “Viola Concert” and “Porgy and Bess Suite” by Gershwin and Gould.

Miloš Karadaglić, a talented classical guitarist from Montenegro, will play pieces by Bach, Couperin, Weiss and others Saturday. Chinese-Canadian pianist Bruce Liu, who won first prize at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in 2021, will play pieces by Bach, Chopin, Kapustin, Rameau and Prokofiev on Sunday.
