Shenzhen Weekly Round Up – Oct 31, 2022: New Station, More Flights, and Sad news from Seoul

Dear Shenzhen-er,

Happy Halloween! If my wechat moments feed is to be believed fun was had all around town from Shekou, to Nanshan, Futian and beyond. I ventured out to the beach in Huizhou myself as the dogs and I needed a break from the city. I'll be continuing the spooky celebration down in Luohu this evening on the DL. On a related and somber note - sad news out of Seoul where at least 153 were killed in a "stampede" on a popular nightlife street during the holiday festivities. Our collective hearts go out to those poor young souls and their families.

Yesterday's Covid numbers were notably elevated - 30 in total with 2 arising from community screening - across Nanshan, Bao'an, & Futian. Interestingly most of the new cases were in children - besides that - SNAFU levels remain nominal. Allocation of extra "Me Time" remains high on my list of recommendations to all my friends. I plan on trying some upside-down meditation on an inversion table this week.

Here are some highlights from the newly opened Gangxia North Comprehensive Transport Hub featuring the "Shenzhen Eye" and of course the ever-impressive fully autonomous moving technological novelty that is Metro Line 14. International flight volume to/from China is set to increase - one of several measures being taken to encourage foreign investment in the mainland. They may not be cheap but at least they exist, and the news is certainly a positive indicator.
