In a world inundated with information overload, it can feel like we’re drowning in a sea of data, planar seeks to provide audiences with a sense of solitude from this overwhelming reality. Emerging in Melbourne’s music scene, PLANAR explores the edges of electronic music, casting a lingering presence across the corners and alleys of Melbourne. Embracing a passion for an ever-extending literary of music, from the organic grooves giving tribal beats to the ethereal, dreamy ambient sounds, their soundscape also spans from wet, acidic flows of synth line to hard-kicking basslines, speaking their versatile command of the dance floor. Sacha Sanders and Julian Bonitz, the cofounders of Sonik.sound are also currently on tour with PLANAR. Night riders of the brutalist city, Sonik will be bringing their trance soundscapes and ethereal sensations to the Middle Kingdom’s audience for the first time. Busy mixing underground events under bridges and in abandoned buildings from across cities from Melbourne to Berlin, Sonik’s distinctive fast paced sound is influenced by Copenhagen’s bunkerbauer and Berlin producer DINA. Shifting between ambient textures and celestial uplifting melodies, they have one of the most striking sounds to emerge in Melbourne over the past few years.
