TWO residents helped save a girl who is over 6 years old from falling off a fifth-floor window in Guangming District, local TV news program Spot News reported.

At 2 p.m. on Aug. 10, residents found a little girl got stuck in an anti-theft window steel fence and was left hanging from the windowsill.

Bi Yanpin, who was at the management office of the construction site of Gongming No. 2 Primary School, dashed downstairs from the office’s third floor after hearing people calling for help.

Although the straight-line distance between the construction site and the girl’s location is short, there is an almost 3-meter-high fence between the two places.

“I climber over the fence at that time. If you let me climb now, I will not be able to do this. I didn’t think too much about it because it is important to save the girl,” Bi told the News.

After climbing over the fence, Bi rushed to the fifth floor of the residential building.

“The house is not locked so I slammed the door open with my shoulder. I saw the child hanging on the balcony, so I rushed to hug the child and told her not to be afraid. I told her to hold my arms. The child had no strength at all probably because she was hanging in there for a while,” Bi said.

Bi found himself a little bit out of strength when he tried to pull the girl up. Luckily, at that time, another worker at the construction site named Lin Hanwu climbed over the fence to join the rescue.

Lin said they need to break the steel fence to save the girl. They joined forces to get the girl out of trouble with Lin cutting off the fence and Bi holding on to the girl.

The girl was reportedly left home alone and said she was stuck while trying to pick up a mobile phone which slipped out of her hand while she was playing by the windowsill.

The girl’s father surnamed Luo said her daughter was out of danger when the community reached out to him. Luo said he would bring his daughter to thank Bi and Lin in person.
