Dear Shenzhen-er,
Happy rainy first week back following the long holiday. October typhoons are uncommon, but despite the unseasonable storm the cooler air and reduced humidity the season brings are a welcome change.
Limited noteworthy local news to highlight this news cycle aside from a few articles about Typhoon Koinu - like this one. On the regional stage the Canton Fair receiving some buzz leading up to it's opening on the 15th in Guangzhou. Nationally Shenzhen managed to pull in 10 Gold medals in this years Asian games along with several others. Finally on the global stage yesterday's tragic earthquakes in Afghanistan and the rising death toll is currently in the limelight.
It was relatively calm in the event space this past week - accommodating the holiday travel plans many in our community enjoyed over the break. Here are a few handpicked offerings this week: For some casual evening laughter check out BigBearComedy's Thursday stand-up comedy show in the evening at Cafe Society, Saturday Savvy Socials (say that 3 times fast) is hosting a Barbie themed "Battle of the Sexes" Game night at Brass House, and finally for Sunday - The MindBody Club will be resuming it's weekly meeting offering dialog and new connection making opportunities.
